Janet Austin

Attorney

Janet Austin is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. During law school she concentrated on family law, working as an extern in the Domestic Violence Unit of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services as a Gillis Long Fellow, for a judge on the domestic docket in Orleans Parish, and served as a clerk for two family law firms. As a Title XX practitioner in the Children’s Rights Clinic, she advocated on behalf of children in matters involving custody, succession and paternity/filiation.

Building on this foundation, Janet gained practical experience by clerking on a busy domestic docket, where she managed a high volume of cases involving divorce, custody, support, and protection orders. In this fast-paced environment, Janet gained invaluable insight into courtroom procedures, case management, and the complexities of family law litigation. Janet has a strong commitment to child advocacy and family law.

She brings a compassionate approach to legal practice, shaped by direct service in the clinic and a demanding domestic court. Janet is dedicated to using her skills to support families in navigating the legal system and achieving positive outcomes.
